Know before you dock
You dock at the Dockyard
Most ships tie up at the Royal Naval Dockyard on Ireland Island (King's Wharf or Heritage Wharf). No tenders — you walk right off onto a flat, easy pier. Smaller ships sometimes berth in Hamilton or St. George's, dropping you straight in town.
Overnights are the magic
Many Bermuda sailings stay overnight — sometimes up to three days. That means a rare evening ashore: a late dinner in Dockyard, a swizzle after sunset, or the last ferry back from Hamilton. Almost no other cruise gives you a port after dark.
No money to convert
The Bermudian dollar is pegged 1:1 to the US dollar, and US dollars are accepted everywhere. Cards work widely — just keep a little cash for taxis and small vendors. English is the official language.
Watch ship time vs. local time
Bermuda may run an hour ahead of your ship's "ship time," depending on your line. Always confirm before heading out — all-aboard is based on ship time, and they will not wait for you.
The honest truth
Is the sand really pink?
