As Soon As You're Booked

Download the Sailor App 📱

The Virgin Voyages Sailor App is the beating heart of the whole experience. Download it early and link your reservation — it's how you'll do nearly everything before and during your voyage.

Before you sail

Complete check-in, book restaurants & shows, buy a Bar Tab, and browse shore excursions.

Onboard

Your schedule, deck maps, reservations, account, and even ordering — all from your phone. You can literally "shake for champagne."

💡 Kelsey's tip

Set up the app and turn on notifications before you sail. It makes booking the popular dining and shows (next step!) far easier the moment your window opens.

5

When Booking Opens

Reserve Dining & Shows 🍴

Here's the good news: every restaurant is included — no specialty upcharges. But the most popular spots and shows book up, so reserve your preferred times as soon as your window opens in the app.

Book these early

  • 1
The headline restaurantsGunbae (Korean BBQ) and The Wake (steak & a famous brunch) fill up fastest. Grab those first.
  • 2
Signature shows & eventsImmersive productions in The Red Room and events like Scarlet Night have limited seating — reserve and arrive a little early.
  • 3
Don't over-scheduleLeave room to wander — The Galley and The Pizza Place never need reservations, so you'll never go hungry between bookings.

💡 Kelsey's tip

Tell me your must-do restaurants and I'll help you map out a dining plan across your nights so you get the best tables without the stress.

6

Before You Sail (Optional)

Consider a Bar Tab 🍸

Virgin skips the traditional unlimited drink package. Instead, there's the Bar Tab — you prepay an amount toward drinks, and Virgin adds a bonus. For example, a $300 Bar Tab often comes with a $50 bonus, giving you $350 to spend.

Why it's nice

You get free bonus money, and drinks are fairly priced to begin with — gratuity is already included in every drink price, so no surprises.

Rough drink prices

  • • Beer: ~$7–$9
  • • Basic cocktail: ~$11
  • • Wine by the glass: often under $11

💡 Not required

A Bar Tab is totally optional — you can also just pay as you go. It mainly makes sense if you know you'll enjoy a few drinks a day and want the bonus credit. Ask me and I'll help you decide.

7

Before Sail Day

Online Check-In ✅

Complete check-in in the Sailor App before you travel. You'll pick an arrival time slot, upload your details, and speed through the terminal on embarkation day.

  • 1
Add your passport & a selfieUsed for secure, fast identification at the terminal.
  • 2
Pick your arrival timeEarlier slots mean more time to explore, eat, and enjoy the ship on day one.
  • 3
Add a payment methodLinks to your onboard account so the ship is cashless — just tap and go.
8

The Week Before

Pack Like a Sailor 🧥

Virgin's mantra is "we threw dress codes overboard" — you can wear whatever makes you feel like the best version of yourself. That said, there are a few fun themed nights worth packing for.

👕 Everyday & evenings

  • • Comfortable, versatile day clothes & walking shoes
  • • Swimsuits, cover-up & a hat for the sundecks
  • • A light layer for cool, breezy evenings & chilly venues
  • • Dressy or casual for dinner — both are welcome

🎤 Pack for the themed nights

  • Something red for Scarlet Night (many people even jump in the pool!)
  • • Fun pajamas for the late-night PJ Party
  • • Retro workout gear if you love the 80s-style fitness class
  • • A bold going-out look for The Manor nightclub

🎵 Good to know: it's a musical ship

Music is in Virgin's DNA and plays throughout the ship. If you like quiet time, pack earbuds — and light sleepers may appreciate earplugs. A few prohibited items to leave home: coolers, most opened liquids, and (surprisingly) seashells or coral. You can bring up to two 750ml bottles of wine per cabin.

🌟 Kelsey's final note

You are about to have the most fabulous, grown-up getaway — lean into the vibe and say yes to the fun. If anything comes up before your sail date, don't hesitate to reach out. Bon voyage! 🚢✨

The best part, honestly

Eat & Drink

No buffet, no set dining times, no specialty upcharges — just 20+ genuinely great eateries, all included, whenever you're hungry. Here's how it works.

🍴

The Restaurants (all included)

Instead of one giant dining hall, Virgin spreads dining across the ship — sit-down restaurants that would be "specialty" (and cost extra) on other lines are all part of your fare here.

The headline sit-down spots

Gunbae

Interactive Korean BBQ — cook at the table, play the drinking game, make friends. A total blast and books up fast.

The Wake

An elegant steakhouse with ocean views — and a beloved bottomless brunch. The dressy-night favorite.

Pink Agave

Elevated Mexican with bold flavors and a gorgeous room.

Extra Virgin

Italian done beautifully — fresh pasta, gelato, and an affogato cart.

Razzle Dazzle

Playful comfort food with lots of plant-based options (and a "naughty" side to the menu).

The Test Kitchen

Part restaurant, part lab — an inventive, experimental tasting experience.

Casual & no reservation needed

The Galley — food-hall style The Pizza Place Lick Me Till... Ice Cream The Social Club snacks Late-night bites
🍸

Bars, Lounges & the Bar Tab

Every bar has its own personality. And unlike most cruise lines, Virgin keeps drink prices fair and transparent — gratuity is already included in the price, so there are no surprise charges.

A few favorites

  • Sip Lounge — champagne & afternoon tea
  • On the Rocks — the big bar with live music
  • Draught Haus — beers & industrial vibes
  • Sun Club Bar — quiet, with sea views
  • Richard's Rooftop — RockStar suite guests only

The Bar Tab (optional)

Prepay toward drinks and get bonus credit — e.g. a $300 Bar Tab often gives you $350 to spend. No unlimited package to buy.

Beer ~$7–9 · cocktails ~$11 · wine by the glass often under $11.

🍾 The famous "shake for champagne"

Anywhere on the ship, just shake your phone in the Sailor App and a bottle of Möet is delivered right to you. Pure Virgin theater — and yes, it's as fun as it sounds.

🎉

What's Included (a lot!)

This is where Virgin really shines. So much is baked into your base fare that other lines charge extra for:

All dining — every restaurant, no upcharges
Wi-Fi — stay connected, no extra fee
Gratuities — no separate tipping
Sodas, coffee & tea — included
Group fitness classes — yoga, HIIT, boxing
Most entertainment — shows & parties

💰 What costs extra

Alcohol, spa & salon treatments, tattoos, and shore excursions are the main add-ons. Everything charges to your account and settles at the end — no cash needed onboard.

The full experience

The Vibe: Cabins, Nights Out & Wellness

What it actually feels like to sail Virgin — where you'll sleep, what you'll do after dark, and how to unwind.

🛏️

Your Cabin

Virgin calls them cabins, and they're designed like a chic boutique-hotel room — smart tech, mood lighting, and a clever convertible bed that becomes a sofa by day. Most balconies even have a hammock.

Sea Terrace

The most popular pick — a private balcony with that signature red hammock. Perfect for morning coffee at sea.

Insider (interior) & Sea View

Smart, comfortable, budget-friendly rooms — great if you'll mostly be out enjoying the ship.

RockStar Quarters

Suites with VIP perks: priority everything, a bottomless in-room bar setup, and access to Richard's Rooftop lounge.

Mega RockStar

The top-tier suites — the most space and the most spoiling, for a truly VIP sailing.

💡 Solo-friendly

Good news for solo Sailors: certain cabins have no single supplement, which is rare in cruising. Ask me and I'll find you the best solo value.

🎟️

Entertainment & Nightlife

Forget dated Broadway revues. Virgin does immersive, boundary-pushing, sometimes cheeky entertainment — and the nightlife actually stays lively (this is an adults-only ship, after all).

Shows & performances

  • • Immersive productions in The Red Room
  • • Acrobatic & dance shows like Duel Reality & Persephone
  • • Drag brunch, cabaret, comedy & even tarot readings
  • • Pop-up performances all over the ship

Parties & nights out

  • The Manor — a two-story nightclub
  • Scarlet Night — the signature all-red deck party
  • PJ Party — late-night pajama dance bash
  • • Champagne Sail-Away & DJ-driven deck sets

👜 Scarlet Night is a must

The whole ship turns red for one unforgettable night — everyone dresses in red, the deck becomes a party, and plenty of Sailors leap right into the pool. Pack something red so you're ready!

🧘

Wellness, Spa & the Sundecks

Virgin takes well-being seriously — in the fun way. Included group fitness classes range from sunrise yoga to retro 80s dance cardio and outdoor boxing, and there's a well-equipped gym and a running track.

For unwinding, the Redemption Spa offers massages, facials, and a gorgeous thermal suite (a lovely add-on), plus a salon — and yes, you can even get a tattoo at sea at the ship's tattoo parlor. The sundecks feel like a rooftop resort, with a quieter well-being pool area if you want calm.

🌴 Eco-friendly by design

No single-use plastics onboard — bring a refillable water bottle and use the refill stations. A nice touch for the planet.

🌍

Where You'll Sail

Virgin sails from Miami, Barcelona, Athens, and Melbourne, covering the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, and Australia. Many Caribbean sailings include Virgin's own Beach Club at Bimini — a private Bahamas retreat with white sand, a lagoon pool, and DJ beach parties.

Med itineraries hit gems like Ibiza, Dubrovnik, and Mykonos, and Virgin often stays later in port than other lines — so you can enjoy sunset dinners ashore or a moonlit stroll before sailing on. Tell me the vibe you're after and I'll match you to the perfect itinerary.

Quick answers

Master FAQ

The questions I'm asked most. Tap any question to expand it.

Is Virgin Voyages really adults-only? +

Yes — every guest must be at least 18 years old. That's a big part of the appeal: it's calm, grown-up, and genuinely kid-free, which makes it perfect for couples, friend groups, bachelorette trips, and solo travelers who want an adult atmosphere.

What's included in the fare? +

A lot. Your fare covers all restaurants (no specialty upcharges), Wi-Fi, gratuities, sodas/coffee/tea, group fitness classes, and most entertainment.

The main extras are alcoholic drinks, spa & salon treatments, tattoos, and shore excursions. No hidden fees or surprise charges — it's one of the most all-inclusive experiences at sea.

Do I need a drink package? +

No. Virgin doesn't sell an unlimited drink package. Instead there's the Bar Tab — prepay an amount and get bonus credit (e.g. $300 becomes $350). Drinks are fairly priced and gratuity is already included.

You can also simply pay as you go. A Bar Tab mainly makes sense if you'll enjoy a few drinks a day and want the bonus. Happy to help you decide.

Do I need dinner reservations? +

For the popular sit-down restaurants (like Gunbae and The Wake), yes — reservations are recommended and the best times go early, so book in the Sailor App as soon as your window opens. But there's no giant main dining room and no set seating time. Casual spots like The Galley and The Pizza Place never need a booking, so you'll never be stuck.

What's the dress code? +

Virgin famously "threw dress codes overboard." Wear whatever makes you feel like the best version of yourself — a suit, a sundress, gym clothes, or something bold. There are no formal nights.

The exceptions are the fun themed nights: pack something red for Scarlet Night and pajamas for the PJ Party. Otherwise, casual by day and as dressy (or not) as you like by night.

Do I need a passport? +

Yes — a valid passport is required for Virgin Voyages sailings, and it should be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date. If yours is expiring, renew early since processing takes time. I'll confirm any visa requirements specific to your itinerary.

Can I bring my own drinks onboard? +

You may bring up to two 750ml bottles of wine per cabin, plus a small quantity of unopened canned or carton drinks. Coolers, most opened liquids, and (surprisingly) seashells or coral are on the prohibited list — along with the usual safety items. When in doubt, ask me before you pack it.

Is Virgin good for first-time cruisers? +

Absolutely — it's often called "the cruise for people who don't cruise." All-inclusive pricing, flexible dining, modern ships, and an easy app mean fewer hidden fees and less to figure out. If you want an adult-focused, elevated, modern vacation at sea, it's a wonderful first cruise. (If you're traveling with kids or want a traditional cruise, another line may fit better — just ask.)

What happens on day one? +
  1. 1. Arrive in your check-in window. Head to the terminal at the time you selected in the app to keep things quick.
  2. 2. Drop your bags & board. Keep a carry-on with documents, meds, and swimsuit — checked bags arrive at your cabin later.
  3. 3. Explore the ship. Cabins are usually ready mid-afternoon. Grab lunch at The Galley and start finding your favorite hangouts.
  4. 4. Champagne Sail-Away. Head to the deck for the complimentary champagne send-off as you leave port — the perfect start.
  5. 5. Muster drill. A quick, required safety check-in — the app tells you where to go. Then the fun begins!
